ONYX CON is a unique CONFERENCE/CONVENTION for special interest in The African Diaspora's global community interest, marketing, and support of Sequential Arts, Popular Fine/Commercial Arts, Interactive Gaming, Film/Documentary, Toys/Figurines, and related genres.
Established festivals like Philadelphia’s East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention (ECBACC) founded by Yumy Odom with planning by event coordinator Maurice Waters inspired this event. The original - The Black Age of Comics Convention founded by Turtel ONLI of Chicago, IL, inspired that Convention. These conventions, The National Black Arts Festival, numerous other ‘comic cons’, and many other similar festive events were inspirational catalyst for the creation of ONYX CON.

"OTHER HEROES" exhibit. This unique show will profile the presence of Black characters and creators in the sequential art genre.

All proceeds from the sale of the catalog will go to SCHOLARSHIP AMERICA's
disaster fund for Hurricane Katrina survivors.
